The Story Behind Our Podcast

STRICTLY BUSINESS is what I would describe as a function of a logical personal and media industry progression.

One of the reasons that some people have been kind enough to listen to me on radio and to watch me broadcast on television over the years is that I have tried to personalise business broadcasting by making it accessible. This was not by design, but because I didn’t understand much of the subject matter myself (still don’t in many cases), and thus had to gently persuade the brainy guests to explain matters in layman’s terms.

This approach was an accidental necessity and gained favour, as did the slightly irreverent delivery style that I employ whenever possible; it was always an ambition of mine to be the Jeremy Clarkson of business broadcasting. Unfortunately the wonderful world of business and markets doesn’t allow a ‘Top Gear’ format, but it does throw up some subjects and characters that just beg to be teased.

Podcasts allow me to work, and you to listen, without the time restrictions imposed by a radio or television show, and open the door to subjects, topics and guests that simply wouldn’t pass muster in the rather rigid studios and corridors of many traditional South African broadcasters.

Over the next months, more and more content will be become part of the family of STRICTLY BUSINESS channels, and our goal is to be become a full service podcasting site with its roots in business, but diversifying to other exciting subjects.

Above all, we want you to change the way you listen so that you are the driver of your content consumption. And of course we aim to make our content accessible, informative, interesting, profitable, and dare I say, enjoyable.
